Our WIKI is the place where we share our ideas, research, and best practice, leading to publications and other venues, that are now more accessible than ever before, about the role of English teacher education as a vital factor in the success of a new teacher's induction years. Research tells us that often as many as 50% of those who are trained and certified as new teachers leave the profession during the first five years. This statistic is costly in terms of both money invested and knowledge and potential lost. We in English education are all too aware of the tragedy and impact that this trend has on K-12 student learning, hence the convening of our dialogue in this cyberspace as a follow-up to the summer 2007 Summit at Lake Forrest College
Our charge is to look at the role of CEE and English Education in the first years of a new teacher's career. The following document is an initial iteration of our discussion. Please join our conversation by adding from your teaching wisdom, research, and scholarship.
